TO THOSE WHO CAME AND NEVER LEFT

The rain began in drops,

then heavily it poured,

everyone ran off to shore,

but I couldn't cause I got stuck,

So they came back in ones and twos,

with umbrellas over their heads and rain boot shoes,

and drowned my shouts and cry,

in their questions of how and why?

But in the end, they all walked away,

just as they came in ones and twos,

leaving me in the ruins of my struggle.

Then you came walking in the rain,

and didn't seem to care about why or how I got stuck,

you simply reached out to me and held my hands,

until I was safely ashore.
